One of the major themes I saw this year was my audience, you guys, asking about next steps in business. You have an idea, your following your passion or you know what you want to do but you are unsure of the next step.
I want to show you how to get started.
I heard you and I wanted to give you guys a strong answer with a foundation that you can use to get started. I started freelancing and working as a consultant 3 years ago to bring in extra income. At the time I had zero clients. None. Nada. It was horrible. I tried a few tricks to get clients in the door but nothing that was actually lucrative. I honestly thought that because I had a website I would get ranked on Google and my ideal clients would come running to find me.
I have no idea what I was thinking except I needed to make this work to leave corporate.
After some trial and error it hit me. I need to build an audience. I had to build it. I couldn’t throw a website up with some fancy degrees and expect anyone to find me. So I started to research. I started to blog. I started to think like an entrepreneur. I saw my problem and I started to problem solve it.
First of all, you can create a product first and then you can then try and find someone to sell it to. This has worked for others but I prefer creating an audience first and finding out what they need. This gives me the chance to build a product that my audience is looking for! When you connect with your audience you are building a strong foundation. This foundation will continue to grow and is directly linked to your income.
There are a ton of ways to build an audience and today we are talking about Webinars! I love webinars. I love attending them and I love to give them. Webinars give you the chance to set yourself up as the expert on a topic within your business. During the webinar you are able to provide the audience with real content that could be life changing!
For example, let us say that you are a love coach. You can run a webinar on flirting and teach your audience how to flirt!
So, how do you use a webinar to build your audience? I am glad you asked!
The first task you need to do, is know your niche. Even if you have a great idea you need to make sure you niche it down ~ niche is rich! This is the same for your clients. You want to know who you want to serve. This information will help you focus your content to a specific group of people. You do not want your marketing all over the place. Focus down!
Your fear hear may be that you lose clients but remember, if they resonate with you they will gravitate toward you. I have male clients and I market to moms who want to leave corporate!
Once you are niched down and have your ideal client you want to pick a topic. Within your business, what is one topic that you would enjoy teaching? Go hang out where your audience is on Facebook, listen to the groups you are involved with. What problem could you solve for them? If you already have an audience ask them! What is something they are struggling with right now?
Once you have your topic you want to create a great hook. A hook is going to capture your new audiences attention. If you do not already have one, create a swipe file. Use that swipe file for inspiration (remember no copying!) and begin to play with words that capture your ideal client. Make it clear what your purpose is. You want them to attend the webinar because they know what they are getting.
Once you know your topic and have played with the hook you can create your content. Remember that your audience signed up to get answers so I always say to never hold back. Give your audience exactly what they need to move forward. The value of your content is what will have them coming back for more. This is really your moment to shine!
The final bit when you are doing a live webinar is a Q&A section. Spend a few minutes answering any questions for your audience. This gives you full engagement right then and there.
Once you finish the webinar it is important to follow up with the audience. You can use this time to have the audio playing back but your goal with follow up is to get connected and open the line of communication into sales. Following up could be sending out a few emails or even leaving your link with your calendar for strategy calls. Create a space for the audience to reach out and talk to you further on your topic.
Do you have any tips that you have learned working with webinars?
